Strengthening Families / Fortaleciendo Familias
A parent, youth (ages 10 to 14) and family skills-building curriculum designed to: prevent teen substance abuse & other problem behaviors; and to strengthen parenting skills and build family strengths.
Proven effective in: 1) delaying onset of adolescent substance abuse; 2) lowering levels of aggression; 3) increasing the resistance to peer pressure in youth; 4) increasing the ability of parents/caregivers to set appropriate limits and show affection and support of their children. Special feature is that parents and youth learn together and program is scientifically evaluated and shown to be effective recognized by: National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), Office of Juvenile Justice & Delinquency Prevention (OJJD) and the U.S. Department of Education. Program available in English and Spanish and is conducted over seven two-hour sessions and four booster sessions held 3 – 12 months after the basic sessions. |
