Our Current Projects

These are some of the projects we are working on right now or in the near future. We appreciate your support for them. If you like more information about any of them or want to contribute with your time, talent, or treasure, please do not hesitate to contact us. We are looking forward to hearing from you so that we can make these projects a reality and serve our families and systems. You can also view some of our past projects here.

Vidas Sanas 2020 / Health Lives 2020
Our health initiative focuses on health education, prevention, and access to care for the major illnesses that affect Latino families. We bring together healthcare providers, physicians, employers, churches, government, and community organizations to improve the health and wellbeing of families. Please visit our Vidas Sanas 2020 site for additional information.

Life-Project Process
We have developed and implemented a 7-session life coaching process to uncover your own purpose in life – vocation – and overcome the adversity and conflicts that come from family relationships and life itself. Provides practical life-skills training that promote the dignity of the person and makes them accountable for their own actions and decisions. Given by a Certified Life-Coach in small groups with individualized planning and support.

Forgiveness / Perdón
We have successfully implemented this process in the community and over 500 families have benefit from it. Thus we continue to find venues and participants for it and train facilitators into the process. It is an emotional and spiritual healing process through which participants attain a positive change in their emotional experience through the learned art of forgiveness leaving with a new perspective and willingness to change behaviors through aftercare components of continued healing, conversion and self-learning. Program can be delivered as a one-day workshop/retreat or over the course of six weeks. Curriculum is available in English or Spanish for interdenominational or Catholic settings and is offered to adults and youth ages 12-17. It can be combined with other psychoeducational processes such as the Life Project.

Leadership Training & Formation
We are working on developing curricula and implementing training processes for lay people to act as bridges between their community and health and social services organizations. We have two levels of training and support depending on the time commitment and needs of the community, church, or organizations.
  • Lay Family Care Peers (LFCPs): A 40-hour training program to form lay leaders at area parishes that are able to deliver our processes and act as support for the Family Life ministries of the parishes. Includes training on leadership and team management concepts as well as faith and cultural competency.
  • Lay Community Health Workers (LCHWs): A 160-hours training and certification program to form lay leaders from area parishes that act as liaisons between the healthcare system and the community. It builds upon the LFCP training to include health and case management concepts. LCHWs are certified by the State of Texas.

Online Resources
Two websites providing articles, videos and resources in Spanish language.VidaSanta.org presents advice and opinions on spiritual matters of daily life from a Catholic understanding. Priest, religious persons, lay leaders and others present their advice to Latinos in short video format or easy to read articles. NuestrasFamilias.org presents advice and opinions on health and life matters from a Christian perspective. Doctors, child specialists, educators, counselors, professionals and lay leaders present short videos and articles.

Financial Literacy
To pilot for a year a financial literacy curriculum in Spanish for the whole family adapted from evidence-based programs. With lessons for children, young adults, and parents so that they all achieve the life-skills needed to make better financial decisions and become more productive members of their community. In Spanish, with multimedia support.
